Going Out Tops For Your Body Shape

We all love a night out, it’s a chance to let our hair down with our girlfriends or it could be a much anticipated date night. Sometimes, we dress up and ‘go to town’ on glamour but at other times, a more low key evening look is needed, maybe jeans or a skirt with our favourite going out top. At Pepperberry, we have plenty of gorgeous going tops this autumn to choose from. Here are just a few, that we know you’ll love! The Wrap Pleated Top

Want to disguise your tummy, but make a little more of your cleavage? Well this is the going out top for you. The Wrap Pleated Top has pleats in all the right places, so is very flattering over the tummy, whilst still creating a waist and it works for all body shapes. The three quarter length sleeves are perfect if you want to cover the tops of your arms and are great for chillier evenings. Navy is a classic colour and looks good with jeans, so wear with our skinny jeans in denim or navy. Accessorise with silver or gold jewellery, but if you fancy bringing in some colour, you could opt for the layered retro beads in orange. Wear with black or navy heels.

The Libby Top

The Libby Top in plum stretch lace, comes with a removable cami, so you can change the look of this top, by wearing a different coloured cami underneath. It has a scooped neck, which is flattering, but not too low cut. This going out top looks good on hourglass or a straight shapes, as it will highlight or create waist. Wear the Libby top with our skinny trousers in black or even our leather look pu pencil skirt, the combination of leather and lace, will definitely make a statement on your night out. Don’t forget those black heels or you could wear with black heeled ankle boots. The Beaded Neck Shell Top

The Beaded Neck Shell Top is the perfect top if you like to show off your arms. The blurred floral print helps to detract away from unwanted areas and is also bang on trend for the autumn season. This going out top looks great with our skinny washed jean or our skinny jeans in denim. For the ultimate ‘Fashionista” look, wear with our floral print trousers and heels!

The Metallic Jacquard Top

If you want to ‘shine’ on your night out, then choose the Metallic Jacquard Top. This is a gorgeous glam top in ice blue. It has bead detailing around the neck, so no need for a necklace. This top is great for any body shape and will work with our skinny jeans, skinny trousers and of course with the stylish pu pencil skirt, which is must-have this autumn/winter.

For the perfect jacket to wear with our Pepperberry going out tops, try the ponte blazer, ponte biker jacket or the quilted leather jacket.

The Autumn Jacket – An Essential Piece

The Jersey BlazerWe may not see much more of summer, but never mind, there is always a silver lining. A new season means new clothes and the essential transitional piece for late summer, to autumn, through to winter, has to be the jacket. The jacket is an important piece of clothing because, if you go out to work, a few carefully chosen smart jackets will see you right through autumn and winter (as you can wear with a top coat, when it gets colder). If you don’t need office wear, the jacket is great for when you are out and about, whether you are shopping, or doing the school run. You could opt for a blazer to smarten any outfit up, or a biker style jacket to give your outfit an edge. The jacket can be worn with most pieces in your existing wardrobe and many pieces from Pepperberry’s autumn collection, so it’s an incredibly versatile investment. So if you buy one essential this autumn… make sure it’s a jacket!

Heritage Check JacketAt Pepperberry, our jackets are different, they are cut so they fit and fasten over your boobs perfectly, there will be no straining buttons or zips or pulling from under your arms. They are designed to fit on the shoulders and at the waist also, so you won’t feel restricted and will be able to move comfortably throughout your day. We are very excited about our new jacket styles, so take a look at what we have to offer.

The Jersey Blazer is smart, but comfortable. It is available in navy and has front pockets and covered buttons that will fasten with ease over your boobs, for a soft, tailored look. The jersey jacket will look great with our Skinny Washed Jeans and the Harbour Stripe Top or the Cable Knit Jumper, for when it gets colder. It also looks great with the Lola Wrap Dress and many other dresses from our collection, including the Herringbone A-line dress and the Serena Dress.
Leather Biker Jacket

The country/heritage look has been on trend for a couple of years now and it’s not going anywhere. The Heritage Check Jacket in mustard would be a lovely addition to your autumn wardrobe. It has double button fastening and front pockets and gorgeous plum lining, which adds an extra something. This jacket is smart, on trend and will fit your boobs perfectly for a stylish look.

Looks great with the Classic Spot Shirt and the Skinny Washed Jeans

Leather jackets are a true wardrobe staple, if you invest in one this autumn/winter, you will find that it never goes out of fashion. This season we have bought you the Leather Biker Jacket in tan, it has a quilted shoulder detailing and zip pockets. The side zip gives plenty of room for your boobs whether you wear it zipped up or open with lapels. For three completely different looks, try it with the Abi Dress, the
Isla Dress and the Pu Pencil Skirt with the Classic Shirt.

Quilted Leather Jacket

Sticking with leather, do you fancy owning a leather jacket that you will never get bored of, that fits like a dream? The Quilted Leather Jacket in black, with quilted panel detailing, is bang on trend, but a true classic. It is collarless, so is versatile and the central zip fastens easily over your boobs, to create a streamlined silhouette. It’s such a classic, it will go with most things in your wardrobe, but try it with, the Collared Tea Dress to add edge to a pretty day dress, or with the Jacquard Panel Dress for a super stylish look, or unleash your inner rock chick and wear it with the Macey Dress. It equally looks fab with our Skinny Trousers in black, with the Colour Block Stripe Top.

The Rosa Blouseyour jacket on, making it the perfect blouse if you have to go out after work. The coral colour works well with navy for autumn or for the remaining summer weeks, and you could wear it with light grey or camel.

Four Marvellous Maxi Dresses

The Maxi Dress has been around longer than youThe Belted V Neck Maxi Dress would think. The first one was thought to be designed by Oscar de la Renta in the late sixties for Elizabeth Arden. People had grown tired of the mini, so hemlines dropped. The Maxi Dress length found its fashion feet (quite literally) during the seventies, when hippies fell in love with the Maxi. The Maxi lost popularity in the eighties, when power dressing took over and it didn’t reappear until the Boho trend at the beginning of the noughties, with the help of actress Sienna Miller. However the Maxi Dress faded into obscurity again but it has reappeared every summer since 2007.

Maxi dresses are very wearable and versatile and a great addition to your summer wardrobe, because they cover you from the sun, feel cool to wear whilst remaining very stylish.

At Pepperberry we have Maxi Dress Style’s to suit you, whatever your body shape. There is also a Maxi Dress for every occasion from beach maxi dresses to evening maxi dresses. You can style them with a cardi, pashmina, cropped jacket and wear them with heels, wedges, platforms, flat sandals or the humble flip flop.

The Embellished Neck Maxi DressThe Belted V Neck Maxi Dress is an essential piece for summer. It looks good with a small wedge or a flat sandal. The soft coloured stripes are perfect summer colours and will go with most skin types. To dress down, wear with a cropped denim jacket in cream or stonewashed denim. For dressing up, wear with the Notch Neck Pointelle Cardigan or the Notch Necked Cropped Cardigan in mint and go ‘big and gold’ with jewellery and wear with gold sandals. Great for a hourglass shape.

If you are looking for a dress made for summer evenings when dressing up is required, then this is the one. The Embellished Neck Maxi Dress doesn’t even need accessorizing! If you want to add something, then pick out a colour from the beautiful beading and pair with a clutch in that colour. A simple and elegant choice for the season.

What Dress to Wear to Black Tie Event

Summer is the time for dinner dances, balls,The Fleur Dress proms and weddings. You may be confused as to what dress to wear to a black tie event. The phrase ‘Black Tie’ stems from the man’s attire of a black tie and dinner jacket, so it just means formal evening dress, which is worn after 6pm. It originates from the 19th century and the ladies were expected to wear a dress that complimented the man’s dress code. In bygone eras this would mean ankle length for dinner and below mid-calf for tea, now this means a ball gown or a cocktail dress. The only rules are, not too short or tight and if you are attending a black tie wedding, then steer clear of an ivory or white dress.

At Pepperberry, we can find the perfect dress for your black tie event. We have elegant dresses for every grand occasion.

The Kate Prom DressFor a glamorous classic, the Fleur Dress will be perfect for black tie parties or balls.

It’s available in a sophisticated navy floral organza. It is a perfect length for a black tie and the neckline is modest, rather than revealing. The shape is extremely flattering, as it skims over the tummy. It’s also great if you want to create the illusion of curves. It’s a gorgeous dress and we think it will be love at first wear!

Is the Kate Prom Dress the perfect prom dress? We think so! The shape teamed with the pretty hand drawn floral print, makes it the right choice for black tie events. The pleats mean it’s flattering for your tummy and the sweetheart neckline is alluring but not revealing. This is a versatile dress, as it can be worn with navy, coral, light blue, teal or cream. It can be easily dressed down too.

The Shell Bead Shift Dress

If you are an hourglass shape, you may want something that shows off your curves, but oozes sophistication, try the Shell Bead Shift Dress, it could be the dress for you. This dress is a classic, which you will return to again and again as it suits most events. Wear with a navy tuxedo jacket and navy stilettos or wear with an ivory taffeta jacket and ivory heels.

The Jasmine Bandeau Dress is a stunning dress for a ‘black tie’. The floral jacquard gives this dress a 1950’s look, it could almost pass for high-end vintage. The paprika colour makes a statement and is great for summer, but also works for winter; this could even be your ‘little red dress’ for the festive season. Wear with nude or metallic accessories for summer, or wear with black or navy accessories for winter. Looks great with the Beaded Clutch and the Multi Pearl Necklace.

The Jasmine Bandeau Dress

So ladies, you do not need to spend a fortune to look and feel fabulous at your black tie event. We hope you have found the dress for you.

Season, Skin and Style

Wearing colour has the ability to lift confidence and make your skin glow. Summer is the perfect time to experiment with colour, so if you are more used to wearing dark colours or neutrals, why not give it a go? Finding the perfect colours for your skin tone is not an exact science, there are some tips to help you, but these shouldn’t be stuck to rigidly.

There are three main undertones to skin; cool, neutral and warm.

• If you are pale with a bluish tone to your skin, the veins on the inside of your wrist look blue/purple and you don’t tan, you are a cool skin tone
• If you are pale with a yellow tone to your skin, your veins look blue/green and you tan gradually but not easily, you are neutral
• If you have olive to dark skin and your veins look green and you tan easily, then you have a warm skin tone

•If you look good in jewel-like tones like blue, jade and purple, you are cool
• If you look good in yellow, orange, brown and olive, you are warm
• If you are neutral, you will suit colours from both groups

When you buy a new item of clothing, hold the colour up to your make-up free face, in natural light, then ask yourself:

• Do my eyes shine?
• Do my dark circles look reduced?
• Does my skin look perky, not sallow?

If it the answer is ‘Yes’ then that’s the colour for you. Remember the right colour will bring colour to your face, not take it away.

So dive in to our Pepperberry palette this summer and see what colour can do for you.
